Far South Coast shocked by incident of animal cruelty

If you know anything that could lead police to the person or people who did this terrible thing please call Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.

A joey is the sole survivor of a deliberate act of cruelty in Tura Beach on Saturday evening, when 13 kangaroos were run down on nature strips in the beachside town just north of Merimbula and left to die.

The Far South Coast community has been shocked by the incident, with animal welfare workers asking the public to look out for other animals which may have been injured in the attack and need assistance.

Police are searching for the criminal or criminals, who also endangered human lives, mounting kerbsides in their vehicle or vehicles as they rampaged along Dress Circle and Headland Drive late on Saturday evening.

One resident has reported possible gunshots were also heard at the time.
