A Nowra man has been arrested after an ugly and potentially fatal attack on a woman at an Eden Service Station on ANZAC day.

The woman, who was working as an attendant at the Caltex service station, was sprayed with petrol over her face and body by a man.

The assault happened after the attendant approached the man, believing he had left the service station the day before without paying.

Police have arrested a 36-year-old man from West Nowra and investigations are continuing.
