Champion cheese: The Heritage Vintage Reserve Cheddar

Bega Cheese has been recognised with its Heritage Reserve Vintage awarded Champion status at this year's Australian Grand Dairy Awards.

Organised by Dairy Australia, the Awards are now in their twentieth year and considered the highest accolade for dairy producers.

Chief Judge, Russell Smith, says it's the second time Bega Cheese has taken the prestigious title in the Cheddar category.

"This year Bega Cheese won champion cheddar, as they did last year, for their Heritage Reserve. I live in the Bega Valley and this cheddar is only available from the Heritage Centre at the factory - usually it's sold at about two years old - huge flavour, everybody loves it," he said.
