Missing registered sex offender Christopher Empey was seen in Nowra last month.

Victorian detectives from the Fugitive Taskforce are appealing for information after missing registered sex offender Christopher Empey was sighted on the NSW South Coast last month.

A search for the 46-year-old started on Friday, 23rd November after he failed to comply with his monitoring conditions.

Police conducted extensive searches in and around the Mansfield area after a GPS bracelet, required to be worn by Empey, was located in the Baddiginnie area.

Investigators believe Empey was riding a yellow 2005 Suzuki DR650 motorcycle registration GD531.

In early December this motorcycle was sold privately to a buyer in Nowra, NSW and police became aware of the sale after government paperwork was lodged.

Detectives do not believe the buyer is linked to Empey in any way and was unaware of his background when buying the vehicle.

It’s not known if Empey now has access to a motor vehicle.

Police are re-releasing an image of Empey in the hope someone recognises him and can provide information about his whereabouts.

Detectives are also releasing an image of him that was captured on CCTV in a Nowra store in December.

In this image he appears unshaven and is still wearing the same clothing he absconded in.

It is also possible that he sustained some kind of injury.

Police are particularly keen to speak to anyone who lives in the Nowra area, or visitors travelling to the region, who may have sighted him.

Investigators are also keen to anyone who has sighted Empey since the sale of the motorcycle and can provide information on his movements or current whereabouts.

Anyone who sights Empey is urged not to approach him but to contact triple zero (000) immediately.

Anyone with other information about his whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
