A spree of scams hitting the South Coast has moved from phone harassment and fraud to door-to-door theft, after an elderly woman was targeted in Quaarma this week.

The con-artists pretending to be tradies stole $3000 from the woman's house on Tuesday, after gaining access pretending to be tradies.

It follows on from an increase in phone scammers operating in the area.

Police say the crooks were in a white-ute and were of Pacific Islander appearance.
