The PM Malcolm Turnbull and the Federal Minister for Emergency Services, Angus Taylor, have announced Tathra residents will be eligible for the National Disaster Relief Scheme, which will ensure ongoing and immediate support for those impacted by the fire. This includes support for infrastructure. This comes on top of the NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian announcing the appointment of a disaster coordinator-general, Ewen Ferguson, earlier this afternoon. The Prime Minister, Minister and Premier have all been in Bega this afternoon, lending their support to residents at the evacuation centre at the showground and also to praise firefighters.

MORE FIRE news coming through....The Tathra Fire Official Mayor Appeal fund has just been set up. Authorities are asking people who want to help to donate money to this official fund, they've asked us to thank everyone who has donated goods, they say there is now enough, and if people want to help they can ring 64992345...and make a donation. That's the number for the Mayoral Appeal Fund.
