Pambula's McHugh wins Gold

Australia’s Men’s Beach Volleyball team have won gold at the Commonwealth Games!

The Aussie Pair of Chris McHugh, who was born and grew up in Pambula on the South Coast, and Paul Burnett won the first set against Canada’s Sam Schachter and Daniel Dearing 17-21 but lost the second set 21-17.

But the Aussie duo held their nerve in the decider, winning 20-18 to claim the gold medal.

It’s McHugh’s second Commonwealth Gold, after he was part of the inaugural Men’s Beach Volleyball winning team on the Gold Coast in 2018.

Australians Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho del Solar will go for gold in the women’s Beach Volleyball this morning (August 8), also against Canada.
