Major orchestral works will be perormed by a small group of musicians on the South Coast this weekend.

Inventi Ensemble from Melbourne are returning to the coast this weekend, with shows in Narooma on Saturday (May 28) and Wolumla on Sunday (May 29).

East Coast Radio can also reveal the group will playing a very special show at an aged care facility in Narooma today (May 27).

Artistic Director and one of the musicians of Inventi Ensemble, Ben Opie, told East Coast Radio they're excited to bring this show to the South Coast.

"We're bringing out an ensemble of six musicians, so we've got flute, oboe, bassoon, violin, viola and cello," Mr Opie said.

"Something that Inventi Ensemble love to do is take larhe scale orchestral works, so peices of music that are usually written for 60 or 70 people and reduce them down to this tiny ensemble of six people," he said.

"So this time we're bringing Dvorak’s New World Symphony which has a lot of familiar tunes in it but like I said, it's only six people, so it's a very different way of listening to a piece of music like this."

Many locals will remember Inventi's wonderful performance of their version of Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade in 2021.

"We're really looking forward to coming back, we played last year and it's one of our favourite times of the year coming to the South Coast."
