South Coast residents shouldn’t be allowed to get away with complaining there’s nothing to do this weekend with plenty on up and down the Eurobodalla and Bega Valley.
Merimbula is hosting it’s Sea Change Expo.
The two day event is designed to showcase the town as a great place to live.
President of the Merimbula Chamber of Commerce, Nigel Ayling said the two day event is designed to showcase the town as a great place to live.
“On the Saturday there’ll be a lineup of exhibitors there including builders, healthcare, trainers, education, real estate agents and a whole range of things,” Mr Ayling said.
“Anyone interested in moving to the area can come in, talk to local businesses and gather information,” he said.
“On Sunday we’ve got a range of experiences lined up which will give people the opportunity to get out into the community and see what’s happening and that starts with our Meet a Local session at Merimbula Wharf from 10am.”

The Equestrian event for this weekend’s Eurobodalla Show has been postponed until the following weekend however the Eurobodalla Agricultural Show will be going ahead on Saturday and Sunday.
The fun will get underway from 9am ton Saturday at the Moruya Showgrounds and feature something special for local motorbike enthusiasts at 6:30pm.
Treasuer of the Eurobodalla Show Society, Lindsay Boyton, said although it’s disappointing the horses won’t be there, the show will have something for everyone.
“We haven’t got any horses this weekend because the ground is too wet,” Mr Boyton said.
“But we’ve got EJ Bikes are putting on a display, there’s an animal nursery for the kids and a new one for this year, we’ve got chainsaw cutting.”
Entry starts at $12 for adults and $6 for children, with free entry for pre-school aged children.

The Art Month Sapphire Coast’s Summer Studio Open Trail started today.
Running through to Sunday, the trail includes an interactive map of special open door studio and Art Trail experiences along the south coast.
Discover the artists and creative spaces along the trail including painters, photographers sculptors and ceramicists.

The River of Art Prize is open to all artists and makers within and beyond the Eurobodalla region.
A first prize of $2,000 is awarded to the artist of the winning work, the runner up is awarded $250 and highly commended works awarded $100.

Judging the competition will be artist and educator, Denise Ferris, and the Director of the Bega Valley Region Gallery, Iain Dawson.
Denise is the former head of the ANU’s school of art and design and now lives in the high country of NSW.
Iain has extensive experience in arts and cultural facility management and has been the director of the Bega gallery since 2014.
Shortlisted works (approximately 25 works) will appear in the River of Art Prize exhibition to be held at SoART.
Artists whose work is not shortlisted will be invited to exhibit their submitted artwork in the Salon de Refusés at Narooma’s School of Arts’ studios.
Both exhibitions will run from 21 January to 6 February 2022.
The Blue Water Classic Game Fishing Tournament is on again this Saturday, Sunday and Monday in Bermagui.
It’s the 86th running of the prestigious game fishing tournament.
There are some serious prizes up for grabs. Whoever catches the largest Marlin over 190kgs will score a prize of over $16,000.
Secretary from the Bermagui Big Game Anglers Club, Deb Evans, said they’ve already got over 40 boats registered coming from far and wide.
“It’s a great event for the town,” Ms Evans said.
“The anglers bring their families and then come back again and again,” she said.
“It’s a great promotion not just for the fishing of Bermagui but for the town itself.”
The briefing will take place at 7pm tonight at the Bermagui Country Club while the fishing gets underway at 7am on Saturday and wraps up at 3pm on Monday.

Everyone is welcome to attend the club’s free Open Day with a super fun afternoon of tennis and activities to be held at the Merimbula Tennis courts.
