Kings Highway open near Braidwood

The Kings Highway is open between Braidwood and Bungendore however there is still some water on the road at Mulloon, with alternating stop/slow traffic conditions in place in both directions.

Captain of the Bega Volunteer Rescue Association, Zac Willis, said with more rain on the way for the south coast motorists should take it easy on the roads.

"It's wet, so slow down, drive to the conditions and be safe," Mr Willis said.

A Severe Weather Warning is in place for parts of Southern Tablelands, Snowy Mountains and the ACT bringing DAMAGING WINDS today with flood warnings across other parts of NSW.

Strong winds, averaging 40 to 60 kilometres an hour with damaging gusts of around 90 km/h are possible above 700 metres this morning.

Winds averaging 60 to 80 km/h with damaging gusts of around 125km/h are possible above 1900m during Friday afternoon and evening.

Areas which may be affected include Braidwood, Charlotte Pass, Thredbo, Cabramurra, Selwyn and Khancoban.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.
* Trees that have been damaged by fire are likely to be more unstable and more likely to fall.
* Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or
Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill.
* Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires.
