Smoke at Tura Beach from pile burn

A  fire at Tura Beach this morning that was initially reported as a bushfire was actually a large pile burn. 

The blaze on Kangaroo Run was called in around 5:30am on Thursday.

Merimbula Fire & Rescue responded and upon further investigation determined the fire was a pile burn. 

Fire and Rescue NSW would like to remind South Coast residents that plan to burn off, the correct permits are required.

A permit from council and in some Fire & Rescue areas, a separate permit from Fire & Rescue.

The call out follows a house fire in Moruya on Wednesday around 1pm.

Moruya Fire & Rescue were quick to arrive at the single story home on Thomas Street .

On arrival crews were confronted with active fire.

Crews in breathing apparatus made entry and extinguished the fire. No one was injured.

The house suffered heavy smoke and water damage.

Fire & Rescue are asking South Coast residents to double check smoke detectors are in good working order.
