PayPal is calling on Australians to remember the bush this Christmas.
The callout comes as PayPal Australia launch a new online marketplace with Buy From The Bush.
Grace Brennan, Buy From The Bush founder said it will give Aussies an easy option to support small businesses in regional and rural communities around Australia.
"It's about long term sustainable support for communities who have suffered through pretty difficult times lately," Brennan said.
"It's also about connecting city audiences with rural communities and small business in isolated communities who really don't have the foot traffic," she said.
"I think of it as a gateway for consumers in Australia who want to support small especially in the lead up to Christmas. They can show up on the marketplace and checkout safely with PayPal.
Brennan said the team at Buy From The Bush were excited to partner with PayPal to build this unique marketplace.
"We are connecting our amazing network of bush businesses with the wider Aussie community, just in time for the Christmas gifting season. Our makers and retailers all have a unique story and we can’t wait for Aussies to discover and support these talented individuals," Brennan said.
"With the pandemic driving so much Christmas shopping online, people will want to get in early to make sure everything arrives on time. We hope Aussies in the cities and suburbs look to the bush for Christmas shopping this year and by so doing, invest in helping rural communities recover and thrive."
The new online marketplace will give Aussies an opportunity to support small bush businesses from across the country who have done it tough with bushfires and now COVID-19, just in time for the Christmas gifting season.
Fresh data from the PayPal’s COVID-19 eCommerce Trends Report reveals two-in five Australians (38%) are already consciously supporting local businesses to help their recovery, so this trend is no doubt to continue this holiday period.
The launch comes just one year after Buy From The Bush began in October 2019 and more than 200 small businesses have already signed up to give Aussies more opportunities to support local than ever before. The movement also champions regional Australian women in particular, with 97% of businesses involved being female-owned.
Aussies will be able to purchase a range of products on the marketplace, with everything from Australian made linen clothing, up and coming designers as well as hand-made jewellery or paintings of regional Australia.
