Bega Valley Shire Council will be holding a community information waste session at Cobargo on Monday the 19th of October at the School of Art Hall

It says shire residents need to think about the way they manage waste

A spokesperson says in 2019, more than 21 thousand tonnes of material went into Bega Valley landfill at Wolumla.

Council says this costs a significant amount to manage, and at the current filling rate the shire will run out of landfill in 15 years.

Council says it now wants to consolidate  services to three sites;  add a new rural collection service and develop a state-of-the-art Resource Recovery Centre near Bega.
