Merimbula is set to host a two-day Seachange Expo next April to encourage people to move to the area.
President of the Merimbula Chamber of Commerce, Nigel Ayling, says there's good reason to believe there's a shift in focus from the cities to the country, and says the expo will be timely and showcase the region
The expo will be held over a weekend with a trade-show style event on the Saturday, followed by a showcase of the area on the Sunday and will feature representatives from a wide range of industries and providers, including: education facilities, employment groups, health care, sporting groups, volunteer organisations, service providers, real estate, housing and government bodies.
The Chamber hopes it will be a one-stop shop for information for people looking to move to the area where they can make contact with real people and businesses as well as highlighting local businesses and experiences.
On Sunday, the Chamber says, it will be time to shine a light on the Sapphire Coast lifestyle.
Guests will be able to experience short trips and tours, go on guided walks, visit beaches, taste local seafood and craft beers. There will be a whole host of activities for guests to attend throughout the day so they can experience what it is like living in the area.
The Chamber says the Seachange Expo will be the "first of it's kind for the area" and are planning to put virtual events into the mix.
