Advice for local tourism operators re COVID-19 Victorian outbreak

Sapphire Coast Destination Marketing is advising local tourism operators to review Melbourne COVID 19 hotspot information and the postcodes of their bookings.

The Victorian school holidays start on Saturday and there have been concerning COVID 19 outbreaks in the state over the past week.

The hotspots are the local government areas of Hume, Casey, Brimbank, Moreland, Cardinia and Darebin and the suburbs within those LGAs. The advice for people living in these suburbs is to avoid travelling regionally or interstate.

Local tourism head Anthony Osborne says the majority of visitors in the coming weeks will not come from Melbourne, but regional Victoria, NSW and ACT and he says there are also many areas of greater Melbourne not near the hotspots.

However he's advised local operators if they have any visitors scheduled to book in from known hotspot areas to contact the booking and if required offer a credit or reschedule.
