The Wanderer Festival to be held at the Pambula Sporting Complex from today until Sunday will have impacts on local traffic conditions around Pambula this weekend and the operating hours of the Sapphire Aquatic Centre from today.
The Aquatic Centre will be closed for the duration of the festival and will re-open at 6am on Tuesday (27 September).
During this time, Council staff will be taking the opportunity to complete deep cleaning and maintenance throughout the facility.
Parts of Pambula Beach, particularly in close proximity to the event, will be subject to temporarily changed traffic conditions, including reduced speed limits, with traffic control and signs in place.
Part of Culgoa Crescent will be one-way for the duration of the event.
The regular household bin collection service on Friday morning will not be impacted.
Residents have received letters from festival organisers with more information.
If you have any questions or concerns before, during or after the event, you can contact the Wanderer Festival’s Community Liaison, Kate Liston-Mills on 0475 099 875 or [email protected].
Sargeant Brad Ross from the Far South Coast Highway Patrol said Police are expecting high volumes of traffic to come into the Bega Valley, especially around the Pambula area, for the Wanderer Festival (September 23-25).
“We will be patrolling the roadways particularly those leading into the Pambula area,” Sgt Ross said.
“We always remind motorists just to be patient, drive slowly and plan your trips well to reduce drive fatigue,” he said.
“Think about how you’re going to get home, have a good plan B because we don’t want people drug affected or alcohol affected on our roads and we’re going to be out on the roads doing extra RBT and random drug-testing this weekend to make sure motorists are adhering to the rules.”
