Merimbula loses power, plus works to affect Surfside residents

Almost 700 people in homes and businesses on the Sapphire Coast lost electricity access on Monday (June 19) afternoon.

The power went down for people in Merimbula as well as parts of Fishpen and Millingandi around 1.50pm.

Essential Energy Crews were dispatched to patrol the Reid Street area and discovered a fault on the high voltage overhead electricity network.

Crews worked quickly and safely to make repairs and had all affected customers power restored by 2.40pm.

Meanwhile, Just over 250 people around Timbara Crescent in Surfside will be affected by a planned power outage today (Tuesday June 20).

Essential Energy will perform planned maintenance works in the area between 9am and 4pm today, replacing power poles and powerlines that supply the low voltage electricity network to the area.

Essential Energy has thanked Merimbula and Surfside customers for their patience and understanding and reminds all customers to stay at least eight meters away from fallen powerlines and to report them by phoning 13 20 80.
