We’re being told to expect more wind storms along the Far South Coast in the foreseeable future.

A freak wind storm forecast for further up the coast struck mid afternoon yesterday in several locations with Batemans Bay the worst hit.

The strong gusts whipped up around 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon resulting in 27 calls for help to the SES.

Region Deputy Controller Linda Kennington said most of them were within about half an hour.

“Mostly we’ve had trees down, that’s been the main thing,” she said.

“We’ve also had some people lose a bit of their roof or part of their roof has come off.

“Most of our jobs I would say have been between Long Beach and Malua Bay and a few trees down at Lilli Pilli.”

“We are starting to get into storm season now.

“If there are trees or branches and things like that that could be trimmed, especially if you need to get them away from the house a little bit, powerlines things like that, if they can be done by you or if you need to get someone in, I would highly recommend that.”
