Bega Valley Shire Council is under attack this morning after an FOI application had to be made to find out the results of a community survey.
The Save Cuttagee Bridge Group went to such lengths after the council stayed silent on the consultation completed back in April.
According to the group the survey found 70 percent of the 528 respondents want the historic structure to be rebuilt as a single lane timber bridge.
Spokesperson Sheena Boughen said over 80 percent of respondents were local residents, who made their views very clear.
“If you look at the responses people saying things like we know it will be safe, it has to be. We know it will be more affordable. We know it’s going to be more sustainable and if it keeps the one lane notion and the slowing down then that’s the world we want to live in,” she said.
“It’s actually a really strong yell out to the council to say you haven’t been listening.”
