Bega Valley Shire Council has closed most of its services today (Thursday November 23).
Councillors and workers will be connecting at an all-staff development day.
The Sapphire Aquatic Centre and other shire swimming pools, as well as Council-run Child Care Centres and the South East Centre for Contemporary Art will remain open as well as and the Central Waste Facility (for commercial customers only).
Kerbside waste and recycling collection will also continue as normal.
All services including tips, libraries community centres and coucnil’s office will close for the day but resume as per usual on Friday (November 24).
Bega Valley Shire Mayor, Russell Fitzpatrick said was important to have a day for staff to connect, learn from each other and think about Council as a multi-faceted community organisation.
“All the staff get together, our office staff and the outdoor staff don’t get to have much time together and it’s a social time for them,” Cr Fitzpatrick said.
“It’s not costing the ratepayer anything, and these staff members contribute a lot over the year so it’s great that they can enjoy a staff get together day.”
