Akorn’s Cruise Division (Akorn) is a specialised division of the Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group serving cruise lines worldwide on luxury, premium and contemporary levels, specialising in half and full day shore excursions, overnights, and overlands, pre and post cruise packages, private arrangements, and turnaround movements.
The role
We are seeking to recruit additional tour guides that are interested in casual work for the upcoming cruise season commencing in November 2024.This position involves escorting cruise ship guests on day tours docked at various ports around Australia
We are currently seeking exceptional people to become tour guides or that are current tour guides looking for additional work.
Everybody who accepts a role at the Ports must be prepared to do the Maritime Certification online course.

What you need for this role
- Previous experience as a tour guide (would be an advantage however is not essential)
- Prior experience in tourism and/or customer service is highly valued.
- Ability to learn scripts or research material to provide exemplary and accurate information to visitors.
- Excellent presentation skills, communication skills and the ability to speak in front of crowds including on a microphone.
- A warm and friendly personality with a passion for excellent customer service.
- Professional and reliable
- Enthusiastic
- The ability to meet varying roster commitments.
- Appropriate working rights
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Team player
- Good level of English
- A language other than English is also highly valued.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ensure compliance with safety & security requirements.
- Ability to adhere to Company Staff Policies and Procedures.
- Adhere to our various Cruise Lines Policy & Procedures.
- Ability to work under pressure and under time restraints – able to handle last minute changes and rerouting of tours due to sudden events enroute or on the morning of the tour.
