The Bega Valley Shire Business Forum (BVSBF) is an Incorporated Association that represents 7 Chambers of Commerce or organisations in the Bega Valley. The Forum was recently successful in receiving a grant for $250,000 through Bushfire Community Recovery and Resilience Fund (BCRRF); this includes funding to run a series of workshops for each Chamber, a Project Manager's position and further funding to utilise on some priority projects.
These funds will need to be managed and the projects completed by 30 October 2022.

Project Manager
The grant funding includes $30,000 in project management fees. This is to help manage and deliver the workshops as part of the agreement as well as the spending on identified projects. The funding will be used to engage a Project Manager to deliver this and other activities to support the objectives of the Forum.

Responsibilities:
Grants and Funding
• Manage and deliver the existing project being funded under the BCRRF
• Administer Funds and Acquittal processes
• Seek and secure further funding for the Forum, Chambers and its members
Communication
• Communicate regularly with all Chambers and Members
o Monthly Emails and Social Media
Advocacy and Representation
• Advocate to all levels of Government for the needs of the Forum and its members
• Represent the forum at all levels of Government and attend meetings of Shire wide significance
Business and Economic Development
• Work with BVSC Economic Development team on important issues that affect the Economic Development of the shire
• Work with companies looking to invest in the area
Support Chambers
• Support local Chambers, committees and members by utilising shared resources
• Actively promote local Chamber initiatives
• Work with Chambers on issues of Shire Wide Importance

Contract Details
• Contract period from 1 July 2021 to 30 October 2022
• Contractor must have own ABN and appropriate Insurance
• Hourly rate payable based on experience
• Flexible hours of between 8 to 16 hours per week
• Travel within the BVS would be required.
• All costs to be born by the contractor and form part of their hourly rate.
(ie. No extra expenses paid)

Reporting
The contractor would report to the Committee and be expected to provide monthly written reports on progress, as well as presenting to the monthly committee meeting.

Candidates who believe they have appropriate skills and experience are invited to submit an EOI for the position. The EOI should include their experience in each of the aforementioned areas. It should also include their fee proposal to manage the project of the contract period, including their hourly rate and availability.

Objects (as per the Constitution)

(1) To work with Council and member Chambers to promote stronger and more effective businesses and to encourage the creation of new business opportunities within the Shire.
(2) To encourage the development of comprehensive shopping, service and industrial facilities tailored to the requirements of the Shire and to identify the existence of such facilities to the wider community, including the travelling public, by means of signage, electronic media and special promotions.
(3) To lend support and encouragement toward the steady growth of local industry and to encourage the creation of new industrial opportunities within the Shire.
(4) To exploit decentralisation opportunities created by any authority by promoting Shire benefits and commercial opportunities and to capitalize on any opportunities for improvement in trading conditions, transport and communications including optimum electronic communications infrastructure.
(5) To promote the Forum as a Key Reference Group regarding proposals for the creation of any law, regulation, rule or policy or any town planning proposal or development application which may be of interest to or have potential to impact upon local business communities, local amenity, heritage values or the attractiveness of the area for tourism.
(6) To acknowledge the importance of Tourism to the prosperity of the Shire and to seek best compromise between commercial and tourism values.
(7) To co-operate with Tourism Organisations in order to optimize service given to visitors to the Shire and to participate in tourism promotion initiatives.

Skill Required

Desired Skills and Experience
• A resident of the Bega Valley Shire
• Experience in Business or Economic Development
• A Good understanding of the roles that Chambers of Commerce play in the business community
• Good networking skills and contacts with in the BVS Business Community
• Strong Financial Skills
• Good Reporting and Presentation Skills
• Experience in project management of similar projects
• Experience in Grant Funding management
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong computer and IT skills to manage software and communication
