The NSW Department of Education provides, funds and regulates education services for NSW students from early childhood to secondary school, delivering world-class education through its public schools and providing funding support to non-government schools. We employ, develop and support teachers, leaders and other staff to deliver the best outcomes for students and to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people.
The successful candidate will be responsible to the Principal for the day-to-day operation of the school canteen, including the supervision and rostering of relevant staff and/or volunteers.
To be successful in the role you will need to have good planning and prioritising skills and good communication skills to work effectively with others.
You will perform a range of tasks relating to the operation of the school canteen, including ensuring compliancy with food handling regulations, ordering and receiving supplies, reconciliation of monies received. You will understand the importance of providing a quality customer experience.
The hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 3:36 p.m. or 7:30 a.m. to 3:06 p.m. (depending on sales), five days per week, school terms (only) with the possibility of overtime for catering purposes. Hours include a 30-minute lunch break.
This opportunity is for a temporary appointment from Monday, August 2 to Friday, December 17. This position is Monday-to-Friday during school terms, not school holidays or public holidays.

l. Demonstrates understanding of the Healthy Schools Canteen Strategy and how to apply the strategy to the day-to-day operation of the canteen.
2. Ensures safe food handling and storage practices in the canteen.
3. Demonstrated ability to cater for regular and one-off events and functions (Including but not limited to: International Food Days, transition days, special food days, Breakfast Club and whole school events).
4. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the capacity to collaborate with all members of the school community, and with the capacity to make a broader contribution to the school and community.
This is a customer focused position which requires a professional manner when working in partnership with the school community.
