Caring Approach is a dynamic, vibrant, supportive and caring organisation . We provide tailored in home support and community care for the elderly and people with both physical and intellectual disabilities, along with people needing short term assistance after being discharged from hospital.
We are seeking caring and professional individuals to become part of the Caring Approach team to promote independence for people living at home.
Caring Approach is Currently recruiting experienced Community Mental health Support Workers for Bermagui, NSW for a participant under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
General duties include:
Provide personal care and support to individuals in their own home.
Domestic tasks
Manual Handling
Food preparation and service
Medication administration
Assistance with activities of daily living
Transport to and from medical appointments and social outings
Supporting people with complex Mental Health needs who can experience crisis.

Skill Required
Supporting individuals under the NDIS scheme with complex mental health need's.
To be successful in this role you will need:
An understanding of delivering care in a person centred way.
Availability and to be reliable & punctual.
Certificate III or above in Disability, Community Care or Mental Health.
The ability to problem solve and keep strictly to the routine
experience in working with people who have complex mental health needs.
Ability to engage positively with a variety of personality types
Ability to fulfil shift duties and have excellent time management skills
Ability to read and interpret service information
Ability and understanding of infection control procedures
Have appropriate visa to work in Australia
Current Police check within the last 12 months or willingness to obtain prior to employment
Working with Children Check (WCCC)

Smart phone with the ability to install apps
One (1) year minimum experience delivering person-centred support.
Current First Aid/CPR certificate
Driver's licence and own fully-insured transport
Have an empathetic and understanding approach to providing care to people with mental health and experience crisis.
completion of the NDIS new worker module or willingness to complete as part of the induction process
completion of the COVID-19 e-learning module
Desirable:
Experience in working with people to increase their independence
Certification and or experience in medication administration
Experience in working with people that require manual handling
Certificate III or above in relevant area
Ability to implement positive behaviour support strategies and an awareness of person centred active support.
