Writing Workshop Merimbula Sat 18 May
Mon 22 Jul 2019 11:47 pm to 11:47 pm
It is estimated there are 2 million books printed each year. Many of those, perhaps even half or even more, are self-published. It may seem impossible to gain visibility in a saturated market, which is why all writers need to promote their books. Whether they write fiction or non-fiction and are traditionally or self published, visibility is paramount in getting books into the hands of readers. But how does a writer get visibility without blowing their budget?
Debbie Richardson (D L Richardson) is an author from Batemans Bay who has published 10 speculative fiction novels, two of which are best sellers on Amazon and Kobo. Debbie has been promoting her books since 2011, sometimes effectively, sometimes not. One of her recent promotions captured the interest of a US based publisher whom she is now writing a series of books for. To help other writers achieve their goal of selling more books on a budget, she is conducting a writing workshop on Saturday 18th May from 1pm – 3:30pm at Club Sapphire, Merimbula. This workshop will cover the fundamentals of promotion such as the buying habits of readers, what makes an effective promotion, promoting online and in a physical environments, as well as running through dozens of ways to promote that cost nothing or very little, as well as ways to maximise the small budget that the average writer has.
Everyone is welcome to attend this workshop. The cost is $20 for members of the Writers of the Far Coast group, concession, and students holders. Or $25 for non-members. Further details can be found online at http://www.writersfsc.org.au. tickets can be purchased on the day. Why not make an entire day of it by attending the free morning writing session and staying for the informal lunch at the Rock Cafe, Club Sapphire Merimbula.
