Launching the ChildSPACE Trauma Responsive Alliance along with book, Side by Side, Step by Step: a Story About Shared Calm
The ChildSPACE Trauma Responsive Alliance will be launched alongside the book ‘Side By Side, Step By Step: A Story About Shared Calm’ at this event.
The newly formed ChildSPACE Trauma Responsive Alliance is a team of volunteers who are placed in settings and environments where children learn and play. The alliance will be resourced by the Australian Childhood Foundation to create a common approach across the Bega Shire to respond to distressed and dysregulated children and remove the stigma for children who display their distress through behaviour through the most up to date trauma knowledge.
‘Side By Side, Step By Step: A Story About Shared Calm’ is a special book created to help children and their families understand and cope with the effects of trauma and chronic stress such as those experienced through the bushfires. Bega Valley Shire Library is proud to host the launch of this beautiful book which has been produced by The Australian Childhood Foundation (ACF) through the ChildSPACE program. After a Welcome to Country, the concept creator of the story and artworks, Zanette Burr, will present a storytelling and introduce you to Aunty and Little Wally Wallaby and their touching journey towards overcoming fear and discovering shared calm.
Representatives from the Australian Childhood Foundation will be at the launch with copies of the book to give away and they will talk about ChildSPACE and the Trauma Responsive Alliance.
Everyone is welcome. Refreshments will be served.
