FREE Guided Tour – World War Two Bunkers – 80th Anniversary
Free Guided Tour of World War Two Bunker complex. This walking/driving tour is of approximately 2 hours duration and details the history of the RAAF air base and the role it played in defence of the sea lanes along the coast of south east New South Wales.
Four concrete bunkers were constructed at the Moruya Aerodrome during the Second World War, and all remain in relic condition with the largest building, now home to the Thelmore Pistol Club. This sporting facility is the only ‘Olympic’ style training venue south of Sydney.
Learn the tragic stories of 13 men who lost their life in and around Moruya during the war, due to attacks by submarines or aircraft crashes.
Tour finishes with FREE displays and Museum Exhibition of historic uniforms and artefacts. If you have seen this tour before, you have NOT seen this exhibition and is not to be missed.
