FREE Guided Tour – When War Came to Moruya – 80th Anniversary

This is a walking tour is of approximately 2 hours duration, to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the end of World War Two.  With two stops to rest your legs, this tour of Moruya CBD details how the Second World War affected this small, coastal township.  Amongst other stories, patrons will hear about the fatal air crash of Avro Anson EG446 which occurred just north of Moruya township, resulting in the death of six young airmen.  The eldest of whom was just 23 years of age.  Learn of the role played by men and women of Moruya to boost local defence, after the attack upon the SS Dureenbee by a Japanese submarine in 1942.  And the tragic tale of how an attack near a small French village during the Great War, affected the lives of people in Moruya over twenty years later. 

Total distance is just 1.1km with two opportunities to sit and rest your legs.
