Down South Jazz Club “The Sweet Patooties”.
On Thursday 17th October, Down South Jazz Club will be bringing members and visitors a special treat at Club Sapphire with “The Sweet Patooties”.
Bonnie Kay and The Sweet Patooties is a 5-piece band of ladies performing some bawdy blues and jazz from the 1920’s and 1930’s and beyond. With Bonnie Kay on lead vocals and guitar, Carolyn Packer on the keys, Catherine Golden on the double bass, Claire Hollander on the trumpet and Katie Glendenning on the drums it will be a most entertaining evening.
They’ll be performing old and new blues classics, bringing this music to light in a new and refreshing way. The amusing lyrics of the 1920s and 30s women’s blues and jazz are sure to bring a smile when you hear this music performed by this fun, five-piece band. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to experience the Sweet Patooties’ soulful package of blues and jazz.
Each member of this band has played at numerous blues and jazz festivals around the country, From Byron Bay Blues and Roots Festival (NSW) to Blues at Bridgetown (WA) . From Docklands and Echuca Blues Festivals and the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz (VIC) to Agnes Blues Roots Rock (QLD). They will bring the fun with 4-part harmonies, horn lines, dynamite soloists and a red-hot rhythm section: It swings, it drives, it jives, and will be a night to remember.
This special evening of jazz will cost $20 for jazz club members and $25 for visitors with music commencing at 7.30 pm (doors open at 7 pm).
